FCCU Team Spotlight: Laura Durkee
Hello! I had the pleasure of chatting with Laura for my first FCCU Team Spotlight blog interview! Check it out:
Can you introduce yourself and tell us how long you’ve been at FCCU?
Hi! My name is Laura and I have worked at FCCU for 13 years. I work at the reception desk, greeting members as they come in to the Main Branch, and I scan paper documents into our system.
What does an average day at FCCU look like for you?
In the mornings, you can find me inputting data into our computer system. In the afternoons, I’m at the reception desk greeting members and scanning documents.

What is your favorite part about your job?
My favorite part is meeting our members. Our members are the most important part and it’s always fun to get to know them.
Outside of work, what are some of your favorite things to do?
I love spending time with my family.
My grandkids are a big priority for us (my husband and I) right now. We love to watch them play baseball. On Mondays, when I have the day off, I babysit my youngest grandchild, Lucas, who is two years old.

What is your favorite volunteering opportunity you’ve done with FCCU and why?
Rhythm on the River (in Fort Atkinson) is my favorite because I get to be with the community and just have a whole lot of fun.
We are able to get together with other team members, family, and friends to have a good time while assisting with the event. Also, the music helps make it a fun place to be!

What is your favorite jam?
Well, my biggest heart throb is Elvis Presley, so I’m thinking any of his music would have to be my favorite.
If you could be any animal in the world, what would you be and why?
I would be a horse, because they are compassionate. They can be your best friend, and they are beautiful animals.

What is one FCCU service that you wish more people knew about?
I wish more members knew about our ITMs (Interactive Teller Machines). Many members that are familiar with the ITMs are hesitant to try it out, and those that do try it out often love the convenience and security that the machines provide without sacrificing “face-to-face” member service.
I think it would be a big plus for people to at least try it out. If you see me at the reception desk, feel free to pull me over and help walk you through the process on our indoor ITM in the Main Branch!
I’m hoping that our current awareness efforts payoff because the ITMs have improved our all-around drive-up experience!
If you won the lottery, what would you do?
If I won the lottery, I would donate a lot of it. I would also deposit much of it into a college education fund for my grandkids, payoff my house, and travel!
Are there any places to which you would like to travel?
I have always wanted to travel to Hawaii, which we are going to soon anyways. I would also like to go to Australia and Paris.

What does the credit union difference mean to you?
To me, the credit union difference means that we are here to serve our members, which is the most important thing.
We are here to make a difference for our members and make sure that their needs are met.
We love you, Laura!
