FCCU Team Spotlight: Kevin Paynter
Welcome to another Team Member Spotlight blog! Keep reading to learn more about Whitewater Branch Manager and Mortgage Officer Kevin!
Can you introduce yourself and tell us how long you've been at FCCU?
My name is Kevin Paynter. I have been working at FCCU since October of 1989. Yes, I have been here since before many of the FCCU employees were born.
What is your favorite part about the job and why?
The best part of my job is seeing people so happy when they are able to buy their first house, or car, or boat or whatever we have made possible for them to achieve . I also like that since I have been here so long, I am now helping the kids of the people I first started assisting when I started and, in some cases, the grand kids of people I have somehow helped.
Outside of work, what are some of your favorite things to do?
I love to shoot sporting clays. I also target shoot and hunt whatever is in season. In the Fall I go to my grandsons football games and attend most of the home Warhawk football games here in Whitewater.
What is your favorite volunteering opportunity you've done with FCCU?
I really like participating in the Holiday parade here in Whitewater. It is great to see all the people lining the street in the cold weather, and I get to see many of our members. It is a really nice time because it is a time of year when most people are "stuck" inside and this gives them an excuse to spend the night outside even though it is usually cold. Secondly, I am the United Way Treasurer for Jefferson and northern Walworth county. This is fulfilling as I get to listen to the various organizations the United Way sponsors, plans for the future, and how they plan to assist those in need in our area.
What is your favorite 80's or 90's jam?
I have always been an AC/DC fan and my favorite album is BACK IN BLACK. In my opinion it is the best album of that era, especially in their particular genre. I also am a big fan of Stevie Ray Vaughn's songs in particular Crossfire and his versions of Voodoo Child and Willie the Wimp.
If you could be any animal in the world, what would it be and why?
Alaskan Brown Bear because they are not afraid of anything and are the top predator in North America. Oh, and also, they hibernate for the winter.
What is one FCCU service that you wish more people knew about?
As odd as it may seem many people still do not realize we do mortgages, so I really wish that would become common knowledge. Also, I wish more of our members would take advantage of the money management team.
If you won the lottery, what would you do?
The first thing I would do is to set up a trust for my grand kids so they would be able to go to any university they wanted and not worry about the cost. I would then start the process of hunting waterfowl from Tierra del Fuego (tip of Argentina) all the way to the bearing sea following the migration for an entire year. I would take my wife on all the trips she has dreamed of going on. I would build a house with solar and wind power to be completely carbon neutral.
Are there any places to which you would like to travel and why?
I would like to travel to Spain to walk the Mediterranean Coast, go to a Real Madrid vs Barcelona soccer game and taste the Spanish cuisine and wines. I would also like to visit Ireland to go to my wife's ancestors home in county cork. Along with a tour of the Guinness factory and maybe one of the whiskey distilleries.
What does the Credit Union difference mean to you?
Since I have worked here for 30+ years I really only know the credit union way of doing things, but what I do like is we are not profit motivated and instead look out for our members financial well being. This doesn't mean we don't make a profit it just means that we are more concerned with whether our members are better off.
